Two Things You Should Know About Men's Cologne

People want to smell good. And for men who sweat a lot, getting a good bottle of cologne is a must. A great scent would definitely get the attention of the ladies and perhaps, would get you a date with one. But how does one know if a scent is of fine quality and is delightful to the senses?

Like buying a pair of shoes, you would want to know how well they fit before you show them to the world. The steps are more or less the same but with a few different considerations. The following may be helpful in steering you away from reeking and lead you to better scented days.

* Match the scent with your body chemistry. If your friend Joe is getting lots of appreciative attention with his brand of cologne, it does not mean you will get the exact same thing. It is possible that while that brand makes Joe smell so fresh and attractive, it would make you stink like an old gym sock. Definitely this is not a good idea if you want to attract the ladies and not keep them away. Keep in mind that each scent works differently on every individual. This is because each one of us has our own body chemistry and we need to find a scent that compliments that chemistry. For this reason, it is important that you whisk some cologne on you first and sniff it out before your purchase. Better yet let the sales lady give you her opinion.

* Smell, smell, smell. As mentioned, test the cologne first. Usually the cologne is sprayed on the back of the hand or on the arm. But then it could take you a while to find or choose a scent you like. If you continue to use your arm as a testing tool, you might have difficulty identifying which scent is which. Men's colognes are known to be made up of strong ingredients and pungent ingredients. A mix of these very strong scents could make you feel faint, give you a headache and leave you smelling like a strong deodorant. You definitely do not want that.

So in shopping for cologne, arm yourself with a good testing weapon. And this weapon is no simpler than a plain card. This way you get no mix ups and you keep your hand and your arms scent-free. Spritz a different scent on each card. You may want to take a breather in between smells to give yourself more room to evaluate the different fragrances. Some experts would advice that you get a whiff of coffee in between smells as the aroma of coffee does the trick of refreshing your senses. As you work your way through the fragrances, slowly eliminate those you do not like. If you are still confused, you might want to test the cologne on you to see how it smells. Give it a few hours or even a day. When you get the hang of it, you can finally go back to the store and make your purchase.
